The U.S. government confirmed on Monday that it will revise the ban on U.S. businesses from doing business with Huawei and allow it to cooperate in developing next-generation 5G network standards. High frequency PCB learned that The U.S. government listed Huawei on the so-called "entity list" of the U.S. Department of Commerce last year, restricting the sale of U.S. goods and technologies to the company on grounds of national security.

People familiar with the matter said that the U.S. Department of Commerce and other agencies have approved the rule adjustment and are currently waiting to publish it in the U.S. FederalRegister.

Relevant information was disclosed as early as last month. On the evening of May 6, Beijing time, Reuters quoted sources as saying that the US Department of Commerce was close to signing a new regulation that would allow US companies to work with Huawei to jointly develop the next generation of 5G network standards.

Industry and government officials said that blacklisting Huawei actually puts the United States at a disadvantage because it gives Huawei a greater say in 5G network standard-setting meetings, while U.S. engineers are at a disadvantage. Two sources said that the regulation essentially allows Huawei to participate in the development of 5G network standards together with US companies.
